When I first heard of the mantis shrimp, the saying “dynamite comes in small packages” came to mind. The beautiful, seemingly harmless sea creature holds great potential. It packs a punch so powerful that it stuns its prey and boils the water around it.

I know that each of you, although young, holds great potential within you to be powerful leaders and members of society. Whether you excel at school, on the sports field, or even at helping around the house, each of you has something unique to offer the world. It doesn’t matter how big or small a task you are given, if you do it to the best of your ability, you have already shown the strength of your ‘dynamite’.

So next time you are studying for a test, kicking a ball around the field, or even washing the dishes, remember the mantis shrimp and how each time it needs to eat, it uses all its strength to catch its prey. Do the same – use all of your strength in everything you do, every time. The results will speak for themselves.
