I’m sure you’ve heard the song “Closing Time” by Semisonic that goes, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Some of my friends find that line a bit sad, but I think it’s actually pretty cool. Yes, okay, it’s sometimes sad when good things come to an end, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the end of everything – just a start to something that may be even better!

With the prospects of a new year ahead, I’ve made some resolutions that I plan to stick to – I want to learn another language, learn how to use some designing computer programmes, save money to travel, and take more photographs. Oh, and cook more! I’m going to start with the mug cake recipe on ‘The Inklings’ page…

I also want to learn more about our indigenous ecology and visit more of our heritage sites. I may just start with reading about the Tsitsikama forest in the ‘The Nova Red List’ and take a trip down to Nieu-Bethesda to visit the Owl House, featured in ‘The Run Through’. That way I get to travel too!

But you don’t have to wait for a new year to begin to set your plans in action – there is no time like the present to start! What are your plans? I’d love to hear from you! I hope your plans include reading every issue of Supernova from cover to cover!
